MotorsportsReg: find and register for a track day

Use this guide alongside step 2 of the six-step journey. MotorsportReg (often called MSR) provides event discovery and registration tools. The event organizer sets eligibility, instruction, inspection, admission and cancellation rules. First Track Day is an independent guide, with no MotorsportsReg partnership or live availability feed.

Official sources checked October 9, 2026. Interfaces and event forms can change; follow the current event page and linked help if labels differ.

Find the right track and event

Begin with tracks and the track’s official calendar, then open MotorsportReg. In Search, enter a venue or organizer. Set Where to your city, state or ZIP code and choose a Distance you can travel. Under Type of event, use Add type to look for HPDE (High Performance Driver Education), then select Search. These controls are documented in the official calendar search guide.

Open a result and compare the full dates, organizer, venue and road-course configuration with the official organizer calendar. A familiar track name does not establish the layout or suitability for a first day. Read beyond the category: racing, autocross, motorcycle sessions and advanced open lapping are different activities. Look for explicit first-timer instruction.

If nothing suitable appears, broaden the distance or filters and check official track and organizer calendars. An empty search does not mean no events exist. No availability is verified by this guide.

Check the organizer and novice requirements

Read the entire event description, requirements and linked documents before starting payment. Identify who runs it and which instructed group accepts someone with your experience. Ask about instructor availability and assignment, classroom sessions, driver age/license, vehicle restrictions (including convertibles), membership, inspection forms and deadlines, helmet/clothing requirements, waivers and arrival times. An event listing or club membership alone does not establish eligibility.

Find local chapter profiles through BMW CCA and PCA, then compare them with the selected event’s rules. National membership and chapter driving eligibility differ. TrackDaze and Chin Track Days have their own instruction and enrollment arrangements; follow each organizer’s official registration links, whether or not it uses MSR. In particular, a group called Novice may require prior experience: confirm the correct first-timer group.

Write down the total costs, opening/closing dates, cancellation and credit deadlines, waitlist terms, and what the organizer considers a confirmed instructed place. If anything is missing, ask before registering.

Create an account and complete the event form

Log in to your existing account or follow Create Account and the prompts. The official account guide also says account creation is available while following an event registration link. Creating an account does not register you for an event. Adding a club to the account does not by itself establish paid club membership or driving eligibility.

Return to the exact event and follow its registration prompts. Supply accurate driver, vehicle, experience, emergency contact and membership information where requested. Choose the instructed first-timer option that the organizer has approved for you; do not choose an advanced group just because it has space. Read the event terms and complete required acknowledgments. Forms vary by organizer, so there is no universal sequence of screens.

Review your selected dates, driver, car, group, instruction, extras and order total before submitting. If Preview Order returns to the same page, MSR’s registration troubleshooting guide advises checking for missing required fields and error messages. Resolve errors rather than assuming your place is saved.

Review payment, waitlists and cancellation terms

Check when payment will be taken and which methods the event accepts. MSR supports deferred payment: an organizer can collect payment information at registration and charge later. Review any booking fee and optional purchases in the total; see the official booking fee FAQ. This guide does not quote prices or promise a payment method.

A waitlist is not an admitted place. If offered, follow the event’s waitlist registration option and check your Dashboard status. MSR’s waitlist help says the organizer manages the queue and contacts admitted attendees. Ask how instruction availability, priority, payment, withdrawal and notification deadlines work for this event. Do not assume waiting is free: MSR documents a case where a waitlisted entry was charged.

Read cancellation/refund/credit terms before paying or making nonrefundable travel plans. Event cancellations and refunds are handled by the organizer; if you separately bought cancellation protection, its provider and terms apply. Use the official cancellation guide for the current process. Cancellation does not itself promise a refund.

Check your registration and prepare the next steps

After submitting, log in and check Dashboard. The official registration-status guide lists statuses including New, Confirmed, On Hold, Cancelled and waitlist statuses. These are distinct: a recorded submission, payment or receipt alone does not prove an admitted novice place with instruction. If you see Not Yet Registered, the process is incomplete; use the documented Finish Registering Now! link. If the event is absent or you are uncertain whether payment went through, check with the organizer or support before creating a duplicate order.

Save the registration details, receipt, confirmation messages and organizer contact information. Check email and spam folders, and ask when the event packet will arrive rather than assuming instant delivery. Confirm your group and instructor arrangements and any outstanding forms, waivers or balances.

Continue the journey: plan the trip, prepare yourself, prepare your car and packing list, then review track-day arrival. Use the car prep guide, checklist and relevant track profile with the current event packet. Online registration is separate from gate entry, check-in and any required inspection.

Know whom to ask

Ask the organizer about novice suitability, group placement, instruction, membership exceptions, car eligibility, tech deadlines, schedules, waitlists, refunds and missing event documents. The official contact instructions identify Contact Host on the event page and Ask the registrar a question from the event dashboard.

Useful questions: “This is my first track day in this car; which group should I select? Is instruction available and included? What confirms my place? When is payment charged? What happens if I remain waitlisted? Which inspection and waiver documents are due, and when?”

Use MotorsportReg attendee help for account access, password and technical registration problems. For an error, note the event URL, the step and the exact message; do not send passwords or full card details. MSR’s platform support does not replace the organizer’s event decisions. For venue entrance or facilities, check the official track information and organizer packet together.

Sources and maintenance

The linked official MotorsportReg help articles and homepage support the interface and platform details above, checked October 9, 2026. Organizer-specific context is linked through our sourced profiles; their dated examples do not replace your chosen event’s rules. Planning checklists and suggested questions are editorial advice. No account, registration or payment was submitted to research this guide.

If a label or policy has changed, use the current official help and organizer instructions. This guide is manually maintained; it does not query event inventory. Return to the six-step journey.
